On Monday October 8th, 2018 at the age of 60, Dinita “Nita” Sims of Ottawa Lake, MI passed away into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ, at Toledo Hospital. Dinita was born on July 30th, 1958 In Chicago, IL. As a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister she was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Dinita graduated from Monroe Community College with an Associate Degree in the culinary arts. Although best known for her cooking skills, she took great pride in her job as a caregiver. Dinita also spent many hours volunteering. She enjoyed helping others and found joy in charitable service.
Dinita is preceded in death by her beloved sister Carolyn Sims-Dekeough. Surviving are her loving mother Ida Lee Sims; children Christopher (Vicky), and Carmen Sims; sisters Debra Sims, Gloria Waterford, Darnell Waterford, and Stephanie Waterford; brothers Darren Sims, Timothy Waterford, Kent Waterford, and Matt Waterford; grandchildren Neke, Christopher “Pooda”, Deshaun, Elijah, Malik, Gavyn, Gynisus, Gabryle, and Braydon; great-grandchildren Jerome and Se’ana. As well as a slew of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Dinita was also blessed to have very special friendships in her life that she truly cherished with her dear friend and business partner, Ms. Lynn Lohner, and was caregiver to her sons John and Jamie. The two had begun to start their own homecare business together. She also had a lifelong friend and spiritual sister Anita Devalt and her dear friend Peggy Brown.
Visitation at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI., will begin 10:00am on Saturday, October 27 , 2018 with the celebration of Dinita’s life beginning at 1pm.
Graveside services will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery, Ottawa Lake, Michigan
